About Lucie Muir
As a highly experienced luxury fashion writer and editor, my articles appear in publications including How To Spend It, The Financial Times, British Vogue and The Telegraph Magazine. With subjects ranging from men’s gladiator sandals to New York's urban beekeepers, I find the backstories and makers as fascinating as the beautiful objects that I view as part of my work.
After graduating from Central Saint Martins I moved to Milan, where for the next seven years I covered all aspects of the Italian luxury business for Women’s Wear Daily and The International Herald Tribune. As part of my remit, I would regularly visit Florence where I would organise an annual menswear shoot during Pitti Uomo. My travels also took me to the fabric mills north of Milan and to Rome, to take a closer look at the leathergoods industry.
Now based between London and Hove, I have edited the fashion pages at The Financial Times (twice) as Acting Deputy Fashion Editor and at Harper’s Bazaar, where I was Acting Fashion Features Editor. These days, I write a monthly online consumer newsletter for the Bond Street Association, featuring a mix of designer interviews with the likes of Alice Temperley and Kelly Hoppen. Then there are the coveted products I choose to feature each month from some of Mayfair's most celebrated stores; Cartier… Burberry… Alexander McQueen… I also have a keen interest in art and review shows at galleries including The Royal Academy, Sotheby’s and Phillips.
Meanwhile, as editor of the Walpole British Luxury Association annual yearbook, I have commissioned some of the UK’s most revered fashion and design editors, including Vogue’s Alexandra Shulman, GQ editor Dylan Jones and Elle Decoration’s Michelle Ogundehin, to pen pieces under my direction. The 2017 edition also contains a series of interviews between myself and Nick Knight, Richard E.Grant and Pippa Small.
I also help luxury brands to develop a consistent tone-of-voice through all mediums of communication including website copy and advertising campaigns. For the luxury property developer Northacre, I created a brand dictionary as well as copy and taglines for all three of its websites. At Smythson for instance, I devised the seasonal collection copy as well as product descriptions for its online store.
